It has been a beautiful summer in Western Washington and a spectacular group of wedding vendors decided to take advantage of the weather and create a lovely styled shoot around a bride and her entourage of flower girls and ring bearers.
The theme for our shoot was a whimsical tea party. We wanted to include children in the shoot and showcase the joy that children bring to an event.
The shoot took place at Skagit’s Big Lake Lodge in Mount Vernon, WA. It is a beautiful property that to passersby does not appear to be anything more than a large lake home. When you pull in you are pulling up to the owners front door. Gail Embert lives in the upstairs with her husband. When you walk down the immaculately maintained deck and come around the front of the home it is breathtaking. The view looks like a painting. The property is built at the top of the hill and looks out over Big Lake. There are all sorts of secluded areas for pictures and quiet moments for the bride and groom and their guests. Ceremonies take place under an arbor of hops plants and receptions are set in the same area and on the beautiful surrounding patios.
Our color pallet for this shoot was silver, gold, pink and turquoise. We wanted something bright that would stand out among the thick native vegetation of the property. The colored linens, table runners and chair covers were provided by Skagit Valley Wedding Rentals. Florals were created by Country Bouquet Florals and tied the color scheme together with the hot pink flowers in the centerpieces, hanging globes and bride’s bouquet.
In addition to the tables set on the main deck of the lodge we set a children’s tea party table complete with ribbon wands and a game of eye spy to entertain them. The girls outfits were handmade by some of the participating vendors. We used collected tea cups to decorate the table and to add special meaning to the shoot. All of the children belong to the participating vendors, so not only was it a special day for our businesses, it was a special day for our children to be included in our work.
Our model wore two different dresses throughout the shoot. Both were provided by Belle Bridal based out of Bellingham Washington. We chose dresses that were romantic and lacy to fir in with the tea party theme. We also though the lace paired well with the chiffon skirts worn by the flower girls. Although it was a styled shoot the little girls followed the bride around with stars in their eyes. It is always fun to see the magic of a little girl seeing a bride and this was no exception.
The shoot was captured by three very talented photographers. They all have such different styles and were able to capture the day beautifully in their own special way.
The day ended with the bride and the children gathered around the sweets tables provided by The Sweet and Savory Pop-up Bakery. Not only was the table beautiful and colorful, but it was the prize at the end of the day for the kids.
